Healthy Eating with Detox Recipes for your Body

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

You probably know by now what detoxification is and the ways that it can be done. A detox diet provides the simplest way to detoxifying yourself. A rule of thumb in detox diets: the more fiber and water, the better. Eat lots of vegetables and fruits, beans and nuts. On the other hand, steer clear of caffeine, carbonated drinks, sugars like chocolates, alcohol and yeast.

Dr. Kiki Sidhwa recommends going on a monotrophic diet after a three-day fast. By monotrophic, we mean eating only one type of fruit for every meal. Example, for breakfast, you can eat apple. For lunch, try out oranges or pineapples. Eat until your hunger is satisfied. You can squeeze in a grapefruit juice at around 4 pm for your snack. And in the evening, eat only apples, pears, grapes or bananas.

Of course, this is just one of those do-it-yourself diet plans that you can take on when you’re on a detox program. For most people, however, detox recipes are the best way to go. These detox recipes are especially designed to provide you with the necessary nutrient in the body and at the same time, providing you with the necessary antioxidants and substances that will cleanse your body from toxins.
For more fluid intake, you can try Ginger Healing Tea with Turmeric. What you need are the following: 2 cups of water, ½ teaspoon of powdered ginger, ½ teaspoon of tumeric, 1 tablespoon of maple syrup and lemon extract. To make your special healing tea, add powdered herbs to boiling water and let it simmer for 10 minutes. Strain the tea into a mug and add maple syrup and lemon extract. Stir and whalaaah— you can start drinking!

About Rhinoplasty Nasal Surgery

Monday, February 11th, 2008

Rhinoplasty is a surgery to reshape the nose. This is one of the most common surgical procedures performed in the United States. Rhinoplasty can reduce or increase the size of the nose, change the shape of the tip or bridge of the nose, narrow the span of the nostrils, change the angle between the nose and upper lip, or correct a birth defect or injury as well as relieve breathing problems. Rhinoplasty can change appearance and increase self-confidence but you will not necessarily end up with a “perfect” nose.

The best candidates for rhinoplasty are people looking for an improvement in their nose and not perfection. You also must be physically healthy, psychologically stable, and have realistic expectations of the future results of the surgery.

Are there any risks to rhinoplasty? Any surgery creates a possibility of complications, including infections, nosebleed, or reactions to anesthesia. Reduce your risks by carefully following your surgeon’s instructions before and after surgery. After the surgery, small burst blood vessels may appear on your nose as small red spots that are minor but may be permanent. There is not usually any scarring if the rhinoplasty incision is inside the nose. When an “open” technique is used there is a small scar on base of nose but it is usually invisible.

Breathing For Perfect Health

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

Did you know, how you breathe could affect your health? It’s true. In can also affect the success of your exercise program, your mood, blood pressure, even your quality of life. Consider this: As nursing infants we were born to inspire and expire through the nose. Prior to this, back in the comforting watery environment of the womb, mouth breathing wasn’t an option (Douillard, 2001, p. 147). How did we learn then to breathe through our mouth? Frankly, stress. When blood pressure rises, we involuntarily open our mouths to obtain large gulps of air. This stimulates the “fight or flight” response and we begin to panic. Is there a better way to breathe for perfect health, you ask? Read on to discover the answer.

The Two Forms of Breathing:

Before we discuss how you can learn to breathe more efficiently, it’s best to note that there are two ways our body has become accustomed to breathing: in the chest/clavicle area and from the diaphragm. It makes sense that chest breathing is shallow and requires more work to supply oxygen to the body. Chest breathing requires a higher heart rate and when used alone, doesn’t efficiently engage the lower lobes of the lungs (where the oxygen is taken into the blood). This is easy to do. And, if we don’t know any better we may never graduate beyond shallow breathing.

What’s the alternative? Enter the diaphragm. The diaphragm is a flat “parachute” muscle at the bottom of the lungs (Douillard, 2001, p. 148). It contracts as we inspire drawing air into the lower portion of the lungs (more efficiently transferring oxygen to the blood). Too, it’s also in the lower lungs where carbon dioxide and other gasses are prepared for release. Give it a try: place your hand on your abdomen just below the ribcage. You should feel the diaphragm shrink as you inhale, expand as you exhale. Now alternate between mouth and nose breathing - can you tell which one more effectively engages the diaphragm?

If you have it, you want to know how to get rid of cellulite! Picture the bumpy texture of an orange peel. That is what the skin surface looks like on someone who has cellulite. It is found on the thighs, buttocks or arms of 95% of all women, fat or skinny, and a few men.

Cellulite is an accumulation of fat, fluid, and toxins pushed up from beneath the skin. This accumulation hardens into elastin and collagen fibers. Cellulite can be hereditary. Other causes are lack of exercise, poor dietary habits, stress and hormones. Scientists are studying how to get rid of cellulite and have developed cream treatments to attack cellulite and reduce its visible signs

Cellulite creams contain vitamins, minerals, herbs and antioxidants which tighten, smooth, and soften the skin. The vitamins and minerals in cellulite cream treatments increase the skin’s health which makes it better able to heal. Cleansing Your Body With Herbal Detox

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Fad dieting has seen its heyday in society as people have striven to be impossibly thin in order to live up to ridiculous expectations. Many of these diets have had potentially negative side effects, yet men and women across the globe have continued to try them. Detox diets have become the fad of the times, with homeopaths advocating their uses and Hollywood stars screaming their benefits. Are these diets really all that they appear to be, or is it simply a matter of yet another company attempting to make a dollar of desperate housewives?

The truth of the matter is that when it comes to dieting, the truth is somewhere in between; however, the body can benefit from detoxification. It assists in flushing out harmful chemicals and fats before they have a chance to accumulate in the body and cause harmful side effects, particularly in organs which normally promote removal of bodily wastes, such as the liver and intestines. In order to do this without losing the nutritional benefits of a proper, balanced diet millions of people are directing their attention to herbal detoxification.

Get Rid from the Anxiety of Contagiousness Brought By Bronchitis

Bronchitis is the swelling of the bronchial tubes, otherwise known as the airways. These airways are the windpipes that directly connect to the lungs. Bronchitis happens when there is an irritation that occurs in the bronchial tubes. Next to the irritation, the formation of thick mucus will soon follow. Hence, the air passage will be blocked by the mucus, leading to difficulty in breathing. Bronchitis can be identified into two types: acute and chronic. The acute bronchitis is normally an illness that lasts for a short period of time. Usually, this is caused by severe cold. But most often, this is triggered by the viral infections. How to Speed up Your Metabolism

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

Metabolism is a set of physical and chemical processes that occur in your body for the sustenance of life. Anabolism and catabolism are the constructive and destructive phases of metabolism. Anabolism uses the energy produced in the body for helping the cells in their growth and repair, while catabolism breaks down the complex substances in the body into simpler substances and in the process produces energy. Your body needs this energy all the time for the functioning of the various systems and organs like lungs, heart, kidneys and so on.

The rate at which your body burns calories is important for your general health as well as for weight maintenance. Many factors affect this rate. By manipulating some of the factors, you can either speed up or slow down your metabolism for weight management: weight loss, or weight gain.

As you grow older, as you lower your activity levels and reduce your physical stress, you are likely to reduce the muscle in your body. When you go on a crash or starvation diet, your muscle is used up for energy production. Your metabolism slows down in these cases.

How Eating More Often Can Help You Eat Less

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

Instead of eating three big meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner, at approximate intervals of four to six or seven hours, it is always better to eat four to six smaller meals at shorter intervals, say of two to three hours. You may wonder why eating more often contributes actually to eating less or to weight loss.

Lighten the load
Your digestive system works more efficiently on a lighter load. You overeat, overload the digestive system, and see what happens. It slows down considerably. In addition, if you overload the system frequently, it may result in indigestion, which in turn might lead to other health problems. In other words, your metabolism will work favorably for your weight problem when you eat less more often.

Your energy levels drop when the intervals between meals are too long. If you wish to work continuously at peak energy levels keep supplying the digestive system with small amounts of nutritious food every three hours or so.
