Ten Most Useful Tips for Getting Rid of Anxiety

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

The following are some of the best ways of dealing with the various levels of anxiety:

Some people who almost always are under stress and who frequently worry about all small and big things of life need help and support from medical professionals, counselors and relatives as well as friends in order to rid them of their chronic or acute anxiety disorder. Doctors usually prescribe various kinds of benzodiazepines to control anxiety. Diazepam (Valium) is one of such most commonly recommended drugs. In chronic cases of anxiety coupled with depression, they may prescribe SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) in order to deal with it.

#2. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Initially, for people suffering from very high levels of anxiety, prescription drugs may be necessary. However, they may gradually adopt several drugless methods to deal with their anxieties. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy aims at developing skills among anxiety victims to cope with their anxiety-related problems. The therapy involves doing things like making the patients challenge what they believe is the source of their anxiety, replace their negative thinking with positive thinking, get exposed to their particular phobia in order to desensitize themselves to it and so on.

Anxiety Support Group

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

If you have never had anxiety panic attacks, you can’t possibly know what it’s like. It stops you cold. It is the most gut wrenching, awful feeling ever. It is sort of like the feeling of awfulness distilled. An anxiety panic attack can make a normally rational person start to perspire, cause their heart to race, And send them running home in a panic. It can be so crippling, as a matter of fact, that it can be hard to get help.

When I first started suffering from anxiety attacks, I couldn’t even make it to my anxiety support group. I was becoming a shut it. Every time I would leave the house, something would trigger me. Sometimes, it would be a routine worry. I would think about whether I had left the stove on, for example. Soon, however, my idle worry would turn into panic. If I tried to goto anxiety support groups, I would worry about what people would think about me. I would get so nervous that I wouldn’t even be able to make it all the way there. Soon, I was only leaving the house when I absolutely had to.

Charitable Organizations

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

Giving money and time makes the heart feel good, but there are some who take advantage. There are many great charities out there that do a lot of good with a little money, but some are mismanaged and some are just scams. Everyone who can give should do so, even if it is just a few dollars. No single person can save the world, of course, but each can contribute a little to a common cause and that is what makes the difference. Before giving large or small amounts to any charitable organizations, it is important to find out what they do with the money and if they have a good reputation.

Lets Count Your Blessings

Friday, September 28th, 2007

We all moan and groan at sometime or another about our lives simply because no matter what we have in life we are never satisfied with and are always looking for something better. How often do we actually sit down and say thank you for what life has given us? For the majority of Americans, Thanksgiving day is about the only time when we think about what’s actually important in life and why we should count our blessings. Happiness in life isn’t about material possessions and money its about the small everyday things that so very often the majority of us take for granted, we are all blessed no matter what walk of life we come from, we all should count our blessings and say thank you for what we have instead of dwelling on what we don’t.
